About BPC CERT
The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Initiative was a FEMA program for more than 10 years and is now administered by The Citizen Corps.
We, as residents of Battery Park City, are keenly aware of the horrific events that impacted our neighborhood on and after 9/11. As a result we had strong motivation to mobilize our neighbors to be able to respond adequately should another disaster occur, whether man-made or natural.
We envision the primary roles for our Battery Park City CERT (BPC CERT) as:
Educating our team members and the community about general preparedness.
Assisting our neighbors during during natural or man made disasters.
Augmenting first responders, as requested with traffic,crowd control and disseminating important information to the community.
